Dave Hoffman
Co-Founder & Lead Project Expert Log & Timber Solutions
Dave Hoffman is the co-founder of Log & Timber Solutions and the driving force behind the company’s unmatched technical expertise. With more than 50 years of hands-on experience in log home construction, maintenance, and restoration, Dave has spent a lifetime doing what he loves — preserving the beauty, integrity, and character of log homes for generations of families to enjoy.

The Man Behind the Expertise
Those who know Dave describe him as “a crazy, fun, workaholic” — words his wife Mitzi offers with a knowing smile after 44 years of marriage. It’s a fitting description. Whether he’s restoring a log cabin on the East Coast, renovating a personal residence, building a treehouse, or tinkering with a car, truck, or motorcycle, Dave is most at home when he’s creating or fixing something. Work isn’t just something Dave does — it’s a reflection of who he is.
Beyond his technical skills, Dave is known just as warmly for his character. Mitzi calls him “a great father and even better grandfather,” and that spirit of family — putting people first, showing up, and doing the job right — carries directly into how he leads every project at Log & Timber Solutions.
A Lifetime in the Craft
Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, Dave developed an early love for working with his hands and building things that last. That passion never dimmed — it only grew. Over the decades, he became one of the most knowledgeable and sought-after experts in the log home industry, earning a reputation that would eventually take him far beyond Pennsylvania’s borders.
Dave’s career has been anything but ordinary. He has traveled the world leading construction projects, troubleshooting complex log home challenges, and training contractors in the specialized techniques that log construction demands. At a time when few professionals truly understood the unique nature of log homes, Dave was flying to job sites across the globe, sharing knowledge and solving problems that others simply didn’t have the background to address.
Building a Legacy Together
For years, Dave and Mitzi operated a log home maintenance and restoration business in Central Pennsylvania, building a loyal client base and a reputation for quality that spread across the region. When their son Dustin and daughter-in-law Laurie relocated to North Carolina and set their sights on starting a new chapter, Dave made the decision to sell his interest in the Pennsylvania business to his partner, freeing him to pour his full energy — and decades of expertise — into building something new with his family.
That decision gave birth to Log & Timber Solutions as it exists today — a company serving log homeowners from Texas to Maine. Dave and Mitzi remain rooted in Pennsylvania, bringing their knowledge and experience to job sites up and down the East Coast, while Dustin and Laurie anchor the business from North Carolina. Together, they built something that feels as much like a family as it does a professional operation.
Unmatched Knowledge on Every Job
Dave’s role at Log & Timber Solutions is simple in title but invaluable in practice: he leads the projects. He brings a hands-on, problem-solving approach to every job site — understanding not just what needs to be done, but why, and how to do it in a way that protects the home for years to come. He knows which products to use for each unique situation, the most effective methods to repair and replace rotted logs, and how to manage full-scale restorations from start to finish.
Log homes are living structures — they expand, contract, crack, absorb moisture, and require a level of care that most contractors are simply not equipped to provide. Dave’s 50-plus years of immersive experience means he has seen virtually every condition a log home can present, and he brings that wisdom to bear on every project the team undertakes. It is the kind of knowledge that cannot be taught in a classroom or learned from a manual. It is earned, year after year, one log home at a time.
“Log homes are alive. And nobody understands them better than Dave.”
